Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee continues her campaign in North Bengal while Governor CV Anand Bose embarked on a two-day tour to assess the situation on the ground amidst allegations of incomplete reports. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) intensified its criticism, labeling the Governor as a BJP agent.
During his visit, the Governor interacted with the people in North Bengal to gain firsthand knowledge of the unrest. Expressing concerns about relying solely on filtered reports, he emphasized the importance of understanding the actual situation by directly engaging with those affected.
The Governor's intention to investigate the ground reality before the elections prompted his visit to North Bengal. He visited North Bengal University and is scheduled to hold a meeting with the vice-chancellors. According to him, having access to accurate information will help in taking appropriate measures amid complaints and counter-complaints during the voting process.
TMC responded by accusing the Governor of being biased towards the BJP. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh criticized the Governor, alleging that he was working as a broker for the BJP and warned that such behavior would not be tolerated.
The strained relationship between the Mamata Banerjee-led government and the Governor has escalated recently. TMC leaders have launched continuous attacks on the Governor following his visit to the violence-affected areas.
